Abstract - (Show below) - (Hide below)

Specifies requirements for the construction of solid fuel burning heaters and related domestic appliances. Requirements include design, performance and construction materials. Also included are requirements for appliances utilizing catalytic combustors and those used for water heating purposes. This Standard does not cover the requirements for installation nor does it address the power output, efficiency, or the level of pollutant flue gas emissions which are covered by other Standards.

Scope - (Show below) - (Hide below)

This Standard specifies requirements for the design and construction of domestic solid fuel burning appliances which can be fully assembled prior to being transported to the installation site.NOTE: The measurements of performance of solid fuel burning appliances in terms of heat output, efficiency and emissions and the requirements for appliance and flue-system installations are not covered in this Standard. These topics are dealt with in AS/NZS 4012, AS/NZS 4013, AS 2918 and NZS 7421.This Standard is applicable to the construction and manufacture of new solid fuel burning appliances and appliances which have been rebuilt or modified from original manufacturers specifications, whether intended for installation in domestic or commercial situations, including the following: (a) Space heaters.(b) Cooking appliances.(c) Open-vented water-heating appliances. (d) Central-heating furnaces.(e) Any combination of two or more of the appliance categories shown in Items (a) to (d) above. Results of a test on one sample of prototype appliance or accessory shall be applicable to all other appliances or accessories of the same construction. This Standard is not applicable to the following:(i) Warm air distribution ducting systems beyond the primary wall, floor or ceiling penetrations.(ii) Appliances with flue outlets greater than 100 000 mm2.
