1.1This test method, known as the low-stress elongation (LSE) test, covers the procedure for determining the stiffness of bare soft square and rectangular copper and aluminum wire in terms of the permanent elongation resulting from the application of a tensile stress.

1.2The SI values for the mass of the specimen are regarded as the standard. For all other properties, the inch-pound values are to be regarded as standard and the SI units may be approximate.

1.3This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
