BS AMD 8797 RENUMBERS THIS STANDARD TO BS EN ISO/IEC 11172/1 Specifies the system layer of the coding. The system layer supports five basic functions; the interleaving of multiple compressed streams into a single stream; the synchronisation of multiple compressed streams on playback; continuous buffer management; the initialisation of buffering for playback start up; time identification. Coverage includes: symbols and abbreviations; methods of describing bit stream syntax. Also gives detailed definitions and annexes.
