8 Minimum Efficiency Level for Oil-Fired Water Heaters

Scope 1.1 This Standard specifies the method for determining the energy factor for oil-fired storage tank water heaters. 1.2 This Standard establishes minimum energy efficiency levels for oil-fired storage tank water heaters. 1.3 This Standard applies to oil-fired storage tank water heaters with an input rating of 107 000 kJ/hr or 30.5 kW (0.75 USGPH) or less and a manufacturer\'s specified storage capacity of 190 L (50 US gal) or less. 1.4 The tests contained in the Standard are not intended to represent actual efficiencies realized in the field. Instead, these tests provide a standardized method of comparing relative unit performance. 1.5 This Standard is written in SI units. The values in parentheses are for information only. The SI values have been calculated from the US Customary Units found in the US Code of Federal Regulations, Department of Energy publication, Title 10, Part 430, Subpart B, Appendix E.
