Diese Norm wird in Verbindung mit DIN 4000 Teil 1 für genormtes und nichtgenormtes Halbzeug angewendet. Die in dieser Norm unter dem Begriff Halbzeug erfassten Erzeugnisse gelten in der Eisen- und Stahlindustrie teilweise als Fertigerzeugnisse (siehe DIN 1353 Teil 2). Halbzeug für die Elektrotechnik wurde nur dann berücksichtigt, wenn in den Normen keine bzw. geringfügige elektrische Werte angegeben sind.
