TESTING OF PLASTICS; DETERMINATION OF FLEXURAL CREEP OF PLASTIC BY MEANS OF A THREE POINT AND A FOUR POINT LOADING METHOD

Superseded date

03-01-1997

Published date

01-12-2013

The method described serve to determine the flexural creep of specimens under steady flexural load, in cases where this property is not only a function of load and temperature, but to a significant extent, of the duration of loading. The test results may be used for assessing the flexural properties of plastics and plastics products that are exposed, when in service, to flexural loads acting over prolonged periods. Since generally, in addition to the level and the duration of loading, temperature and other ambient conditions will affect the long-term behaviour of plastics, these factors will also have to be taken into account when interpreting test results.
