This Standard is included in DIN Handbook 171. This applies to continuous strand and chopped strand textile glass mats ('mats', for short) which conform to the technical delivery conditions specified in DIN 61853 Part 1 and which are used for the reinforcement of plastics. The requirements to be met by the mats and their properties as laminates are specified in clause 3 for the various applications. The requirements specified for particular laminate properties are based on results obtained from tests on specimens prepared under standard manufacturing conditions using standard casting resins.
