Dieser Teil der IEC 60512 ist nach den Forderungen der Bauartspezifikation beim Prüfen von Steckverbindern anzuwenden, die zum Anwendungsbereich des Technischen Komitees Nr 48 gehören. Diese Prüfung darf auch bei ähnlichen Bauelementen angewendet werden, wenn dies in der Bauartspezifikation angegeben ist. Durch die Prüfung soll festgestellt werden, ob eine Kabelabfangung geeignet ist, mechanischen Beanspruchungen zu widerstehen, wie sie im üblichen Gebrauch auftreten.
