Diese Norm gilt für Hilfsstromkreise. Sie gilt nur in Verbindung mit den entsprechenden anderen Normen der Reihe DIN VDE 0100 sowie mit den noch nicht ersetzten Paragraphen von DIN VDE 0100/05.73 mit Änderung DIN VDE 0100g/07.76. Innerhalb von Betriebsmitteln und deren Kombinationen, die nach entsprechenden Normen, z.B. für elektronische Betriebsmittel nach DIN VDE 0160, hergestellt sind, gilt die vorliegende Norm nur soweit, wie keine Festlegungen in dieser Norm enthalten sind. Diese Norm gilt nicht für Anlagen und Betriebsmittel der Informationsübertragung und -verarbeitung der öffentlichen Elektrizitätsversorgung, die nach DIN VDE 0800 Teil 1 und DIN VDE 0804 gebaut sind und die Fernwirkinformationen mit erhöhter Übertragungssicherheit über grössere Entfernungen übertragen (Fernwirkanlagen).
