Intended as a users' guide to good practice in the installation of industrial instrumentation and process control equipment, without attempting to replace manufacturers' detailed instructions. It may also form a basis for instructing contractors personnel and for preparing costing estimates. While including only a minimum of design considerations the recommendations may, nevertheless, assist sub-contractors in taking decisions on design matters in the field. Separate sections deal with detectors and measuring devices, regulating devices and associated lines, control panels, supply systems, pre-conditioning checks, and, most essentially, personnel safety and installations involving hazardous atmospheres.
