Describes the telephone network interface to a telemetry interface unit which operates under the utility telemetry service architecture utility. This service is a basic transport architecture capable of supporting various applications. Calls are initiated either via a telemtry interface unit or a utility/ESP. Two access methods and two telemetry interface unit transmission methods are defined. The interface covered in this standard is described in basic terms of a utility meter reading/controlling service.
