This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies illuminance meters of pointer type and of digital type employing photoelectric elements, for use in measurement of illuminance produced by the natural light such as daylight, and the light from general lighting sources (incandescent lamps, fluorescent lamps, HID lamps, etc.) incident on a plane (plane illuminance) at an ambient temperature of -10 centigrade degrees to +40 centigrade degrees. This Standard shall be applied to illuminance meters in water and other special purpose illuminance meters as practical unless any impediment exists.
