A Withdrawn Standard is one, which is removed from sale, and its unique number can no longer be used. The Standard can be withdrawn and not replaced, or it can be withdrawn and replaced by a Standard with a different number.

Applicable to electrodynamic, electromagnetic and composite braking systems of d.c., a.c. and multi-system electric locomotives and motor coaches and of vehicles powered by heat engines used on rail systems. It does not apply to electrically controlled mechanical braking systems.
