Le présent document définit des méthodes objectives d'évaluation de la qualité de transmission de la parole sous l'angle de l'intelligibilité. Les quatre méthodes existantes, étroitement liées, sont connues sous la désignation de méthodes 'STI', 'STITEL', 'STIPA' et 'RASTI' (voir article 3). Ces méthodes sont destinées à l'évaluation de la transmission de la parole avec ou sans systèmes de sonorisation. Il comporte également une étude d'autres méthodes permettant de déterminer ou de prévoir l'intelligibilité de la parole, ainsi qu'une méthode permettant de mettre en corrélation les résultats des différentes méthodes d'évaluation.
