La présente norme Européenne spécifie les dispositions et les règles de sécurité spéciales pour assurer le fonctionnement des ascenseurs en cas d'incendie dans un bâtiment, sur la base d'un(de) signal(aux) du système de détection incendie aux systèmes de commande des ascenseurs. Elle s'applique aux ascenseurs et aux ascenseurs de charge neufs. Cependant, elle peut servir de base pour améliorer la sécurité des ascenseurs et ascenseurs de charge existants. La présente norme donne diverses options pour la commande de l'ascenseur en cas d'incendie dans le bâtiment. La présente norme ne s'applique pas: - aux ascenseurs qui restent en service pendant un incendie, par exemple, les ascenseurs 'pompiers' tels que définis dans l'EN 81-72:2003, - à l'utilisation des ascenseurs pour l'évacuation du bâtiment, et - au feu dans la gaine.
