La présente partie de l'ISO 10079 spécifie les prescriptions de sécurité et de performance relatives aux appareils d'aspiration médicale manuelle servant à l'aspiration oro-pharyngée. Elle traite des appareils actionnés avec le pied ou avec la main ou avec les deux (voir Figure 1). Les appareils non électriques d'aspiration pouvant être intégrés à des appareils électriques entrent dans le domaine d'application de la présente partie de l'ISO 10079.
