En complément aux normes NF R 17-107:2001, NF R 17-108:2001, NF EN 1846-2:2002 et NF EN 1846-3:2003, le présent document définit les caractéristiques particulières des engins équipés d'une berce destinée à recevoir une cellule (par exemple: un plateau, une citerne, un caisson, etc.) destinés aux services d'incendie et de secours. Il définit également les classes des engins et des berces amovibles pour bras hydrauliques. Dans une même classe, il est possible de monter n'importe quelle cellule sur n'importe quel châssis adapté, ceci afin de faciliter l'interopérabilité des moyens des services d'incendie et de secours.
