Die Bestimmungen der vorliegenden ÖNORM sind für Neu-, Zu- und Umbauten anzuwenden, um barrierefreie Bauten und Anlagen zu erreichen. Bei Zu- und Umbauten bzw. Adaptierungen sind Abweichungen von dieser ÖNORM zulässig, wenn deren vollständige Einhaltung aus bautechnischen Gründen nicht möglich ist. Bestehende Baulichkeiten sollten durch Adaptierungen den Bestimmungen dieser ÖNORM angepasst werden.
