Für die Herstellung und Prüfung von Schweissnähten bei der Errichtung und Instandsetzung von Stahlrohrleitungen und Anlagen der öffentlichen Gasversorgung einschliesslich der in Betrieb befindlichen Leitungen für alle Druckbereiche sind die Anforderungen festgelegt. In Abhängigkeit vom Betriebsdruck und vom eingesetzten Rohrwerkstoff ist die Zuordnung zu bestimmten Qualtitätsanforderungsstufen festgelegt. Detailliert geregelt sind die Anforderungen hinsichtlich Qualitätssicherung, die von den Beteiligten zu erfüllen sind. Für die Durchführung der Schweissarbeiten selbst, von der Schweissnahtvorbereitung bis zur Nachbehandlung, sind entsprechende Hinweise enthalten. Der Mindestprüfumfang für die zerstörungsfreie Prüfung von Schweissnähten ist beschrieben. Die zusätzlichen Anforderungen für Schweissnähte bei Rohrleitungen mit einem zulässigen Druck von mehr als 16 bar sind angegeben. Hinweise zur chemischen Analyse des Grundwerkstoffes und für erforderliche durchschnittliche Mindestvorwärmtemperaturen wurden aufgenommen. Konstruktive Lösungen zum Ausgleich von Wanddickenunterschieden sind dargestellt. Für baustellengefertigte Schweissnähte ist die erforderliche Nahtgüte angeführt.
