Der Anwendungsbereich bezieht sich auf Oberflächen von neuen Bauteilen und Halbzeugen sowie auf die Reparatur von Oberflächen an Bauteilen gegen mechanische, chemische, thermische oder kombinierte Beanspruchung. Diese Norm beschreibt die Anforderungen für die Einteilung der Schweisszusätze nach der chemischen Zusammensetzung des reinen Schweissgutes von umhüllten Stabelektroden, Fülldrähten, Füll- und Sinterbändern oder der chemischen Zusammensetzung von Massivdrähten, -stäben und - bändern.
