Die vorliegende Norm legt ein System für Toleranzgrade und Grade für erforderliche Bearbeitungszugaben für die Masse von Gussstücken fest. Sie ist für die Masse von nach verschiedenen Fertigungsverfahren hergestellten Gussstücken aus metallischen Werkstoffen und deren Legierungen anwendbar (aber beachte auch Einleitung und Abschnitt 5). Diese Norm gilt sowohl für auf der Zeichnung angegebenen Allgemeintoleranzen und/oder erforderliche Bearbeitungszugaben als auch für individuelle anzugebende Toleranzen und/oder erforderliche Bearbeitungszugaben welche direkt nach einem bestimmten Mass angegeben werden (siehe Abschnitt 11). Das festgelegte System gilt dann, wenn die Giesserei das Modell oder das Druckgiesswerkzeug bereitstellt oder die Verantwortung für deren Überprüfung übernimmt.
