Diese ÖNORM stellt eine Planungshilfe für Brennwert-Feuerungsanlagen dar, wobei sie für gasbefeuerte Anlagen (Anlagen mit Geräten der Bauarten B und C gemäss ÖNORM EN 483 und ÖNORM EN 677, die mit Brenngasen gemäss ÖNORM EN 437 oder Flüssiggasen gemäss ÖNORM C 1301 betrieben werden), für ölbefeuerte Anlagen (Anlagen mit Geräten gemäss DIN 4702-7, die mit Heizölen gemäss ÖNORM C 1109 betrieben werden) und für biomassebefeuerte Anlagen (Anlagen, die mit forstlicher oder landwirtschaftlicher Biomasse gemäss den ÖNORMEN M 7111 und M 7135 betrieben werden) anzuwenden ist.
