Diese ÖVE/ÖNORM beschreibt die Prüfung zur Feststellung, ob ein Lichtwellenleiterbauteil geeignet ist, hoher Temperatur standzuhalten, die im Betrieb, bei Lagerung und/oder beim Transport auftreten kann. Die Prüfung ist vorgesehen, das Betriebsverhalten der Bauteile festzustellen, wenn diese während einer bestimmten Dauer Wärme mit konstanter Temperatur ausgesetzt sind. Im Allgemeinen erfolgt diese Prüfung bei hoher Temperatur, um mögliche Ausfälle aufgrund von Entfestigung und Ausdehnung herbeizuführen. Das Verfahren bewertet nicht die Fähigkeit eines Bauteils, Temperaturänderungen im Betrieb standzuhalten; für diese Prüfung sollte ÖVE/ÖNORM EN 61300-2-22 angewendet werden.
