Gives the test solution, apparatus and procedure for a saline droplets corrosion test for evaluating the quality of metallic and non-organic coatings, made to coating or product specification on metallic substrates. The described test is suitable for detecting defects and discontinuities in metal coatings cathodic to the underlying metal, and for chemical or electrochemical conversion coatings such as obtained by chromate and phosphate treatments. Not suitable for testing coatings for severe service. Excludes type and number of test specimens, exposure periods for a particular product and interpretation of results.
