AMBIENT LIGHT SUSCEPTIBILITY OF FIBER OPTIC COMPONENTS
01-12-2013
Describes a method to establish the susceptibility of components such as cables fibers, interconnecting devices, splices, or couplers to ambient light. The test conditions simulate expected conditions to which the fiber optic cable or device may be subjected during actual use. NOTE: This test is extremely unlikely to produce failing results for any fiber optic cable that utilizes a black or other opaque-colored jacket, but cable failures may occur when transparent or translucent jackets are employed.
