FOTP-162 FIBER OPTIC CABLE TEMPERATURE-HUMIDITY CYCLING

Describes a method for evaluating materials and properties of fiber optic cables when they are subjected to the cyclic effects of temperature and humidity. This is an accelerated environmental test designed to expose the cable to controlled high humidity at elevated temperatures and to frozen moisture. The intent of this test method is to: A) detect changes in the transmission performance of the fibers and, B) detect damage to the cable materials and components such as cracks or blisters.
