GENERIC REQUIREMENTS FOR OPTICAL FIBER CLEAVERS

Superseded date

08-01-2003

Published date

01-12-2013

Gives Telcordia's view of proposed generic requirements and characteristics required of optical fiber cleavers that should be met to provide for satisfactory operation in a typical BCC environment. Contains the information needed to perform a product analysis on an optical fiber cleaving tool, including requirements for the features and characteristics of the tool itself, a method of analyzing the quality of the cleave, and procedures for environmental testing to simulate field conditions and field wear. Provides new requirements for angled cleavers, multi-fiber cleavers, and low precision cleavers together with testing of the product in various environments and simplifies the classification of cleave defects into two categories: protruding and non protruding.
