GENERIC REQUIREMENTS FOR FIBER OPTIC ATTENUATORS

Superseded date

Published date

01-12-2013

Bellcore's view of proposed generic requirements for fiber optic attenuators to be used for interoffice transmission and subscriber loop distribution. Fiber optic attenuators are passive optical components that intentionally reduce the optical power propagating in fiber and have a fixed or adjustably variable attenuation. They are typically used in fiber optic transmission systems to reduce the optical power received by the photo-detector to a level that is within the dynamic range of the optical receiver.
