Provides detailed generic requirements for clocks for the BCCs digital synchronized networks. In application, the clock is an embedded part of a Network Element (NE) and has the function of controlling all or the synchronization and timing aspects of the information bearing signals within and at the interfaces of the NE. The TR addresses the general concepts of the clock including the interfaces, the categories of performance levels, and the parameters used to quantify the performance. It also addresses the internal functional organization of the the clock including the duplication of and the switching between ports and equipment. Detailed requirements are presented on the performance quality of the clock output in terms of the timing aspects of the NE output signals and as a function of the sources
