Diese TRGS gilt für die Herstellung und Verwendung wassermischbarer, wassergemischter und nichtwassermischbarer Korrosionsschutzmittel, flüchtiger Korrosionsinhibitoren (Dampfphasen-Korrosionsinhibitoren, 'volatile corrosion inhibitors', 'VCI') und von Korrosionsschutzfetten und -wachsen, die zum temporären Schutz von Metallgegenständen bestimmt sind (siehe auch DIN EN ISO 8044 [1]). Korrosionsschutzmittel im Sinne dieser TRGS sind auch Materialien, aus denen flüchtige Korrosionsinhibitoren freigesetzt werden (z.B. VCI-Folien, VCI-Papiere, VCIVerpackungen sowie VCI-Öle) oder an denen Korrosionsschutzmittel haften.
