La norma specifica la frequenza e i metodi per la verifica delle macchine per prove d'urto con pendolo utilizzate per le prove d'urto Charpy, Izod e urto-trazione descritte rispettivamente nelle UNI EN ISO 179-1, UNI EN ISO 180 ed UNI EN ISO 8256. La verifica delle macchine per prove d'urto strumentate è trattata nella misura in cui le proprietà geometriche e fisiche delle macchine strumentate sono identiche a quelle delle macchine non strumentate.
