La norma, sperimentale, specifica i requisiti meccanici e strutturali di sicurezza per tutti i tipi di sedute ad uso domestico per adulti, incluse le sedute pieghevoli e regolabili. La norma, sperimentale, si applica alle sedute convertibili in letti, ma solo quando configurate come sedute; non include requisiti di durabilità per le rotelle, per i meccanismi reclinabili e basculanti né per i meccanismi per la regolazione in altezza del sedile, come le colonne a gas. Essa non si applica alle sedute per esterno. Non sono inclusi requisiti relativi all'invecchiamento e al deterioramento.
