A Withdrawn Standard is one, which is removed from sale, and its unique number can no longer be used. The Standard can be withdrawn and not replaced, or it can be withdrawn and replaced by a Standard with a different number.

Stabilisce le caratteristiche principali delle cinghie impiegate nelle trasmissioni sincrone a cinghia per trasmissioni meccaniche di potenza e dove è richiesta una sincronizzazione del moto. Le caratteristiche principali sono: le dimensioni nominali dei denti; le lunghezze e le larghezze; le relative tolleranze; il metodo per il controllo delle lunghezze. In passato le trasmissioni sincrone a cinghia sono state denominate in diversi modi, per esempio: trasmissioni a cinghia dentata, a cinghia positiva, timing-belt.
