Specifies classification, construction, operation, safety requirements and tests for lighting appliances intended for domestic use with commercial butane at 11 in w.g. pressure, and commercial propane at 14 in w.g. pressure.

1. This British Standard specifies the classification, construction, operation, safety requirements and tests for lighting appliances intended for domestic use with butane gas at 11 in. w.g. pressure.

NOTE 1. This gas is a mixture consisting predominantly of C4 hydrocarbons with some Ca hydrocarbons and small amounts of C5 hydrocarbons. However, the distributors of the gas are able to supply gas whose combustion characteristics are always within the limits prescribed by the test gases defined in Clause 29.

NOTE 2. The term ‘Lighting appliances’ includes their component parts, e.g. burners, brackets, pendants and their taps.
