Dissolution of a test portion after alkaline or acid fusion and reduction of iron (III) to iron (II) with hydroxylammonium chloride. Formation of the iron (II) 1,10-phenanthroline complex and photometric measurement at 510 nm.

This Part of BS 4993 specifies a photometric method for the determination of the iron content of aluminium fluoride for industrial use.
