Describes dimensions for probes and terminal units for the supply of medical gases (including vacuum).

The Scope of BS5682:1998 restricted the standard to probes used with medical gas pipeline systems. The new Scope brings not only the dimensions of terminal units within the document\'s remit but also connectors designed to accept BS5682 probes, that form a part of other medical equipment, such as pressure regulators integrated with cylinder valves, more commonly referred to as integral valves or VIPRs.

The Scope has also been rewritten to align with the suite of harmonized standards related to medical gases and vacuum/suction systems and devices. The gases and gas mixtures for which connections are provided and those specifically not covered are now listed in the Scope.
