Prescribes the general procedures for the BS 9000 system for specification, qualification or capability approval, inspection and release.

This Part of BS 9000 specifies the general procedures for the BS 9000 system for the specification, qualification or capability approval, inspection and release of electronic components of assessed quality.

The BS 9000 system operates in the United Kingdom, defined for this purpose as England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. It can be extended to any other member country of the CECC by mutual agreement of the National Authorized Institutions concerned.
