Defines a standard, compatible connection between instruments and automation technology that will enable the user of technology to create an automated laboratory environment that will function optimally for the individual laboratory. Will address issues such as optimal configuration of the transport system in relation to the instrument; the relationship between the electromechanical dock and varying types of transportation through a defined point in space; responsibility for the positioning of the container in relation to the transport system and instrument and signalling between equipment and the transportation mechanism.
