In dieser Norm werden Anforderungen an Konstruktion, Herstellung und Prüfung von Absperrarmaturen für den Kryo-Betrieb festgelegt, d. h. für den Betrieb mit tiefkalten Fluiden unter 10 grad C (definiert nach EN 1252-1), wobei der Betrieb unter Umgebungsbedingungen einbezogen wird, um das Aktivieren und Deaktivieren (Hoch- und Hinunterfahren) der Armaturen zu berücksichtigen. Für die jeweiligen Armatur-Produktnormen werden zusätzliche Anforderungen an den tiefkalten Betrieb festgelegt.
