The procedure described in this standard is applicable to the calculation of flanged joints in pipelines and process plant in which the flanges are connected by means of bolts and gaskets. It is applicable to round flanges and is based on tests carried out on flanged joints with diameters up to 2000 mm. Special flanges, e.g. oval flanges, rectangular flanges and flanges whose faces bear on each other up to the outer circumference or are supported outside the bolt circle are not covered by this standard.
