IP CODE OF PRACTICE FOR CALIBRATING AND CHECKING PROCESS ANALYSERS - FLASH POINT ANALYSERS

Superseded date

01-05-1995

Published date

12-01-2013

Provides methods for calibrating, validating and checking process flash point analysers which measure the flash point of a liquid petroleum oil. the analysers available are of two types: cyclic type in which the air sample mixture is taken through a heating cycle until the flash point is reached and is then cooled to approximately 15 deg C below the flash point and the heating cycle restarted; continuous type in which the heated air sample mixture is exposed to a catalytic detector. The particular air vapour mixture which corresponds to the flash point reacts on the catalyst surface to produce a reproducible temperature. The methods are less rigorous on purely technical and theoretical grounds and avoid the explicit use of statistics.
