Preparation of Digital Technical Information for Page-Based Technical Manuals (TMs)

This standard establishes the technical content, style, and format requirements for all Technical Manuals (TMs) for major weapon systems and their related systems, subsystems, equipment, assemblies, components, Shop Replaceable Units (SRUs), and Line Replaceable Units (LRUs). This standard provides requirements for operator andmaintenance technical manuals, Depot Maintenance Work Requirements (DMWRs), National Maintenance WorkRequirements (NWMRs), Preventive Maintenance Daily (PMD), Preventive Maintenance Services (PMS), PhasedMaintenance Inspection (PMI), destruction of equipment to prevent enemy use manuals, Battle Damage Assessment and Repair (BDAR) manuals, Preventive Maintenance Checklists (PMCs), Lubrication Orders (LOs), ammunitionDMWRs, software manuals, and general maintenance manuals, Hand Receipts (HRs), ammunition data sheets, and Technical Bulletins (TBs). The requirements are applicable for all maintenance levels/classes through \"overhaul\"
(depot) including DMWRs and NMWRs. The requirements can be used to develop TMs in paper, page-based manuals. For purposes of this standard, Electronic Technical Manual (ETM) is synonymous with page-based technical manual. MIL-HDBK-1222G contains preferred style and format for the content prescribed by this standard. The guidance in MIL-HDBK-1222G should be followed unless it conflicts with the requirements in this standard.
