Determines the Charpy impact properties of plastics from force- deflection diagrams. Different kinds of rod-shaped test sample and test configuration, in addition to test parameters depending on the material type, test sample type and type of notch are specified in part 1 of ISO 179. Also outlines dynamic effects, for example load-cell/striker resonance, test sample resonance and initial contact/inertia peaks.
