Die vorliegende Norm enthält Festlegungen für runden und profilierten Draht aus unlegiertem Stahl zur Herstellung von Förderseilen und anderen hochfesten oder hochbeanspruchten Seilen. Diese Norm enthält drei Querschnittsformen: Z-Drähte, Taillen-Drähte und Keildrähte. Sie gilt nicht für Stahldrähte aus dem Seil. Dieser Teil der Norm enthält zu folgenden Punkten Festlegungen für kaltgezogenen Draht aus unlegiertem Stahl für Seile für hohe Beanspruchungen: Masstoleranzen, mechanische Eigenschaften, Anforderungen an die chemische Zusammensetzung des Stahldrahtes, Anforderungen an Überzüge.
