Diese Europäische Norm legt ein Labor-Prüfverfahren zum Bestimmen der bioziden/biostatischen Wirksamkeit von Filmkonservierungsmitteln in einer Beschichtung gegen Algenbewuchs fest. Die Norm gilt nicht für Beschichtungen, die unempfindlich gegen Algenbewuchs sind. Das Prüfverfahren umfasst nur die Konservierung der Beschichtung, nicht den Schutz des Substrates, z. B. Holz. Dieser wird in einer anderen Norm behandelt. Das Prüfverfahren ist anwendbar für Beschichtungen für Holz und mineralische Substrate. Der Anwendungsbereich schliesst Beschichtungen im maritimen Bereich aus. Sicherheit, Gesundheit und Umweltaspekte liegen nicht im Anwendungsbereich dieser Norm.
