Zusätzlich zum Anwendungsbereich von Teil 1 legt dieser Teil der Norm für Geräte mit Prüf- und Messstromkreisen, die nach Angaben des Herstellers aus Betriebs- und/oder Funktionsgründen innerhalb und/oder ausserhalb des Gerätes elektromagnetisch nicht geschützt sind, weitere detaillierte Anforderungen an die Prüfanordnung, Betriebsbedingungen und Leistungsmerkmale fest. Der Hersteller legt die Umgebung fest, in der der Gebrauch des Gerätes beabsichtigt ist, und er wählt die entsprechenden Prüfschärfen aus, die im Teil 1 der Normenreihe festgelegt sind. Beispiele für solche Geräte sind Oszilloskope, Logikanalysatoren, Spektrumanalysatoren, Netzwerkanalysatoren, digitale Vielfachmessgeräte (DMM) und Leiterplattenprüfsysteme.
