Diese ÖVE/ÖNORM legt spezielle Anforderungen für Messgeräte zum Prüfen der Drehfeldrichtung (Phasenfolge) bei Drehstromnetzen fest, wobei die Anzeige der Drehfeldrichtung mechanisch, optisch und/oder akustisch erfolgen kann. Dieser Teil der IEC 61557 gilt nicht für zusätzliche Messeinrichtungen für andere Grössen, z. B. Spannungsprüfer, die zusätzlich Drehfeldrichtungsanzeiger enthalten. Er gilt ebenfalls nicht für Überwachungsrelais. Phasenprüfer gelten nicht als Spannungsprüfer. Diese Norm ist in Zusammenhang mit ÖVE/ÖNORM EN 61557-1 zu verwenden.
