A Withdrawn Standard is one, which is removed from sale, and its unique number can no longer be used. The Standard can be withdrawn and not replaced, or it can be withdrawn and replaced by a Standard with a different number.

La presente norma è la versione ufficiale in lingua inglese della norma europea EN ISO/IEC 15421 (edizione dicembre 2001) e tiene conto delle correzioni introdotte il 27 marzo 2002. La norma definisce il materiale ed i relativi attributi di un codice a barre originale ed i criteri di qualità secondo i quali ne è verificata la conformità alla norma, a prescindere dalla generazione dell'immagine iniziale, che verrà riprodotta da processi usuali di stampa.
