1. Are you the user of the file?
        ✔ Yes - continue
        ✘ No - please pass these instructions AND the email:
        ‘Your Digital Product Download from SAI Global’ to the end user.

    2. Start on the computer you want to use the DRM PDF on.

    3. To open your PDFs you’ll need to:
        a. Install FileOpen plugin and
        b. Ensure that your PDF reader is up-to-date and is a supported third-party viewer

    4. Open the email: ‘Your Digital Product Download from SAI Global’ and click on the ‘Product Download’ link. Your file will automatically download to your device.

    5. Using your mouse, right click on the Download below and "Show in Folder".

6. Open the file in your installed PDF viewer by double clicking on the file

    a. RIGHT click on the ‘Product Download’ link
b. Select ‘Download as’ and save the file with a memorable name
c. Open Adobe Reader and open your file.load’ link eader’

1.   Install FileOpen viewer from App Store

2. Open the email from us: ‘Your Digital Product Download from SAI Global’
Tap and hold the ‘Product Download’ link to bring up the copy menu, then select ‘copy URL’.

3. If you are using the Outlook App, paste the link into a browser such as ‘Firefox’ to download the link.

If your browser tries to open and display the pdf, you may need to change your browser settings so that PDF files automatically download when opened.

4. Open FileOpen Viewer App

5. Select the File icon at the top right corner of your screen

6. A box to add the URL will appear.
Tap and hold to the paste link and then hit OK.

7. Please wait about 1 minute for your file to decrypt and open.

1.   Install FileOpen Viewer from Google Play Store

2. Open the email from us: ‘Your Digital Product Download from SAI Global’

3. Tap and hold the “product download” link to bring up the copy menu, then select “copy URL”.

4. Paste in Chrome browser (or another browser) .

This will trigger the file to download. If your browser tries to open and display the pdf, you may need to change your browser settings so that PDF files automatically download when opened.

5. Open FileOpen Viewer App

6. Select the green file icon at the bottom right of your screen.

7. Then the ‘Open File’ window will appear. Hit the grey folder button

8. Select your DRM PDF from the ‘Downloads Folder’

Ensure that FileOpen plugin is installed to authenticate your file https://plugin.fileopen.com/all.aspx.

You may like to change you default web browser settings first.
Start menu >> Settings >> Apps >> Default Apps >> Default Web Browser to Google Chrome
Alternatively, you may proceed with the following setting changes in Google Chrome and then paste your copied Product Download Link into a Google Chrome Browser – see Part 2.2.

Please follow the instructions in 2 parts via Google Chrome to enable successful download:

Part 1 – To automatically download your file via Browser:

    1. Open Google Chrome

2. Click on the 3 dots on the top right hand corner and go to Settings.

3. Under Privacy and Security, select "Site Settings".

4. Scroll down to “Additional Content Settings”

5. Turn on "PDF Documents" to automatically download your encrypted files instead of automatically opening in Chrome

Part 2 – Ask where to save before downloading your PDF-DRM:

    1. Select "Advanced" and scroll down to Downloads:

2. Turn on "Ask where to save each file before downloading” so the button is BLUE.

Once you apply the setting changes – For users with default browser as Google Chrome:

    1. Go into your Digital Product Download Email from SAI Global - simply click on Product Download Link which will trigger the file to download to your download folder. Open file directly or locate file and right click and open with your default, compatible PDF viewer.

Once you apply the setting changes – For users with browser “other” than Google Chrome:

    2. Go into your Digital Product Download Email from SAI Global – right click on the Product Download Link and Copy Link Address/Copy Hyperlink and paste into the URL of your Google Chrome Browser and enter. This will trigger the file to download to your download folder. Open file directly or locate file and right click and open with your default, compatible PDF viewer.

Some email software such as Outlook may alter the download link. This means that Adobe Reader may not be able to download the file.

Instead you can go to the settings of your browser so that it will automatically download PDFs.

For example, in Chrome go to the 3 dots menu on the top right of the browser. Then scroll all the way down and click 'Advanced' at the end. Scroll to the Privacy & Security settings and click 'Site Settings'. On the Site Settings page, click 'PDF documents'. Then turn on the 'Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome'.

Once you've changed your browser PDF settings, right click on the product download link to copy the url and then paste into your browser to download the file. Then open your Reader software and open the file from there.

You can save your PDF on your computer and these mediums:
    - Shared drive
    - USB drive
    - Drop box
    - Other shared location
The DRM-PDF will allow for saving backup however, as against the Terms & Conditions, your DRM-PDF will be locked to the first machine on which it is opened.

If you want to use the PDF with some of your colleagues, you can purchase a Multi User

No, but you can print one copy for internal use (some publishers allow 2 copies, please get in touch with us if you have any questions)

Publications secured with DRM can only be opened in many other PDF viewers other than Adobe Reader or Acrobat. Examples are Foxit, Nuance , Nitro among others. Please click here to view the full list. NB Some computers have other PDF readers set as the default.

DRM publications are locked to the computer on which they are first opened e.g. if you open a publication secured by DRM and then forward it to someone else to open they will not be able to open it.

To open a DRM publication for the first time, you need to be connected to the internet and install the FileOpen plug-in.

Open Adobe. Go to Help -> about Adobe -> about third party plug-ins. If you can see “FileOpen Client” then the plug-in has been installed.

The system requirements to run the FileOpen plug in are as follows:
    - Windows: Windows 98, 2000, XP, Vista, Windows7 - Adobe Reader 10.0 or higher
    - Mac: Mac OS X, Mac OS 9.2 - Adobe Reader 10.0 or higher
    - Linux: Adobe Reader 10.0 or higher

Your rights to print are detailed in the license to which you agreed (or will agree) when you purchase a publication. Typically, the license allows you to print one complete copy of the publication. Please note that printing a single page from the publication will consume your print rights. So, if you wish to have a hardcopy version of your PDF, it is advised that you print the entire publication.

Be sure that you have Adobe Reader installed and closed. If you do not have the necessary Administrator rights to install software on your computer, please contact your IT administrator

Currently yes, you will need to be connected to the internet to view your PDF 

No. The license to which you agreed does not permit the storing or transmission of the publication across a network.

The FileOpen Plugin requires the port 443 to register itself on your computer when you first open it only, you will need to review your security settings to allow this port to be used only the first time you open each protected file. Please consult your system administrator should you need help adjusting your computer settings.
