Describes a procedure for assessing (by a simple empirical test) the resistance of varnish, paint or related product to a separation from a substrate when a lattice pattern is cut into the coating, penetrating through it to the substrate. The procedure also allows (when applied to a multicoat system) the assessment of the individual layers of coating to separation from each other. Covers apparatus, sampling and test panels.
